Poomsae, or patterns, are an essential non-contact component of Taekwondo, practiced individually. They consist of pre-arranged sequences of defensive and offensive movements that increase in complexity as you advance in your training. Regular practice of Poomsae develops a deep understanding of Taekwondo's core elements, including basic techniques, breathing control, balance, coordination, and concentration. This practice harmonizes the mind and body in the pursuit of perfect execution. Poomsae are a mandatory technical requirement for both colored belt (Kup) and black belt (Dan) gradings in Taekwondo.
Below, you’ll find Poomsae demonstration videos for Kup (coloured) grades, curated from the official Kukkiwon World Taekwondo Headquarters playlist. If you are looking for Poomsae for Dan grades, please head to the playlist.
